Human Comfort Assessment of Vibration Behaviour of Office Floors: Before and After Strengthening Using the Laminated Elastomeric Bearing

Vibration issues of floor areas in relation to human comfort perception an open working space are very common. This paper discusses the results a assessment before and after strengthening post-tensioned reinforced concrete flooring structure. All floors experience structural vibration, which arises from various sources inside outside building. investigated vibration issue problematic slab area on Level 3 four storey building, vibrations induced by people walking through station area. Two types tests were conducted, namely (1) shaker test (2) test. Accelerometers attached according tothe sensor points recorded all acceleration responses system. The highly sensitive KS 48C accelerometer was used this study. accelerometers placed at same locations for both tests. initially reported as structure found that its peak exceeded recommended limitation.
